CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICIAL INCIDENT REPORT Case No.: CPD-1991-1124-AB3 Date: December 25, 1991 Reporting Officer: Officer Daniel Quintero Location of Incident: 671 Lincoln Blvd, Chicago, IL Summary: On December 24, 1991, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Officers responded to an emergency call from the residence of Peter and Kate McAllister. The caller reported a disturbance involving trespassers. Upon arrival, Officers discovered two adult male suspects, later identified as Harry Lime and Marvin Merchants, subdued by a series of home-rigged booby traps. Key Findings: 1. The suspects sustained multiple non-life-threatening injuries, including burns, bruises, and lacerations. 2. The McAllister's eight-year-old son, Kevin McAllister, was found unharmed inside the home. He claimed to have been left behind accidentally while his family traveled out of state. 3. Evidence on the premises included numerous makeshift traps (e.g., electrified doorknobs, heated metal surfaces, sharp ornaments on the floor, swinging paint cans). 4. Both suspects alleged that a "little kid" orchestrated these traps with intent to harm them. Kevin McAllister indicated it was done in self-defense. Officer Observations: - Kevin McAllister demonstrated detailed knowledge of the mechanical and tactical operations of the traps. - The child appeared calm and did not exhibit typical signs of fear or distress. - Preliminary interviews suggest the parents left the child unsupervised inadvertently. Recommendation: No charges recommended against Kevin McAllister due to self-defense circumstances. Social Services to be notified for follow-up regarding child welfare. Signed, Officer Daniel Quintero Chicago Police Department December 25, 1991
