STATION: WCHI 93.5 “Morning Unmasked” ORIGINAL AIR DATE: June 14, 2019 HOST: Marcia Reed GUEST: Buzz McAllister (Older brother of Kevin McAllister) [BEGIN TRANSCRIPT] Marcia Reed (Host): Good morning, Chicago. This is Marcia Reed on “Morning Unmasked.” Today’s guest is someone with a famous family name—Buzz McAllister. That name might ring a bell if you remember the infamous “home alone” story from the early ’90s. Buzz, thank you for joining us. Buzz McAllister: Hey, thanks for having me, Marcia. I just want to set some things straight. Host: A lot of rumors have circulated about your younger brother, Kevin McAllister. He vanished from the public eye, and there are sensational claims he’s involved in a string of bizarre “trap” crimes. Can you shed any light on this? Buzz: I wish I could. Kevin and I haven’t spoken in years. He always had a knack for, you know… setting booby traps. But people forget, we were just kids. I teased him a lot, and he retaliated with pranks. Looking back, it wasn’t so funny… Host: Do you believe there’s any truth to the rumors that Kevin might be responsible for more sinister traps now? Buzz: I don’t know. Kevin went through some rough patches. After that first incident with the burglars, he got a lot of attention—some positive, some negative. Mom took him to therapy, but… he closed off. By the time we were teenagers, he was building contraptions in the garage, refusing to let us see. Host: Did you ever feel concerned about his mental state? Buzz: I brushed it off as Kevin just being Kevin. But as we grew older, he seemed darker, I guess is the word. He moved out right after high school, barely kept in touch. Now the media is spinning these wild tales. Part of me wonders if there’s more truth to them than we want to admit. Host: Thank you for sharing this, Buzz. Before we wrap up, do you have a message for Kevin, in case he’s out there listening? Buzz: Kevin, if you can hear me, come home. We love you, man. I don’t care what’s going on—it’s never too late.
